About Shannon

I've been where you are.
(That's not a marketing line.)

Before I was a somatic coach, I was a person cycling through the same exhausting loop that brings most of my clients to me. I did the therapy. I did the yoga. I sat in the circles, went to the retreats, worked with the teachers. And I experienced what so many women in this space experience — moments of real relief followed by the same patterns showing back up, often harder than before.

I didn't need more healing spaces. I needed to understand what was actually happening in my body.

My background is in molecular biology. I understand how the body works at a cellular and systemic level:

how stress hormones function, how the nervous system encodes experience, why trauma isn't just a memory but a physiological pattern that lives in tissue and response.

That foundation changed everything about how I approached my own healing and eventually, how I began teaching.

But the science alone wasn't enough.

What completed the picture was somatic work, specifically the kind of body-based, multi-modality approach that takes the nervous system seriously as the place where real change happens or doesn't happen.

That's the intersection I work in.

Science and soma.

Rigor and compassion.

Understanding and practice.

I'm an E-RYT 200 and CYT 500 yoga teacher with over 1,800 hours of teaching experience. I'm a certified somatic coach through Andee Love's internationally recognized Rooted Body-Based Somatic Coaching program — an ICAHP, SEI, and IPMH accredited certification that trained me in Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems parts work, Somatic Experiencing, Trauma-Informed Emotional Freedom Technique, and SoulFlow Embodiment. I'm also a NASM certified nutritionist.

What that means in practice is that I have real tools across multiple modalities and I know how to use them together in response to what's actually showing up in your body, not just what's on the curriculum for the week.

I don't operate from a fix-it model.

I don't believe you're broken.

I don't believe more willpower, more processing, or more insight is what's missing for most of the women I work with.

What's missing is nervous system literacy. The skills to recognize what state you're in, understand why, and actually move through it rather than around it.

The capacity to regulate without white-knuckling.

To adapt without collapsing.

To build resilience that holds up in real life, not just in the room where you learned it.

That's what I teach. And it works not because I'm exceptional but because the body, given the right conditions and the right skills, knows exactly what to do.

I'm based in the DMV area and teach at two studios while running programs and retreats online and in person.

When I'm not in that work I'm probably outside, overthinking something interesting, or telling my friends things they didn't ask to know about the nervous system.

I'm glad you're here. Take a look around and find the entry point that feels right for where you are right now.
